Project Overview
"Eco-Warriors of Zanzibar" is a trans-formative youth-led initiative championing
environmental justice across the Zanzibar Archipelago. Grounded in community empowerment and climate
action, this project mobilizes, educates, and activates young change-makers to protect their ecosystems,
confront environmental injustices, and build a resilient, sustainable future.
Why Zanzibar?
Zanzibar faces escalating environmental threats—coastal erosion, plastic pollution, deforestation, and
the growing impact of climate change on marine biodiversity and livelihoods. Yet, its youth remain
under-engaged in shaping environmental solutions. This project bridges that gap by empowering local
youth to become front-line advocates, innovators, and protectors of their environment.
Vision
To cultivate a generation of Eco-conscious leaders in Zanzibar who actively advance environmental
justice and drive grassroots change.
